I usually don’t post my most difficult questions in my blog, due to the fact that I’m the one who is supposed to sort it out and THEN post about it. This time it’s different.
I recently made a post about the new Elgg theme Orkut, which I’m using in my new blogging network, but shortly after I discovered CosmicBuddy, the BuddyPress theme. Now CosmicBuddy provides everything that Elgg already had, which made me use Elgg in the first place.
The question is, start over with BuddyPress and the new theme, or stick with Elgg, and a much easier to use Admin interface?
If you think you can help me solve this question please drop me a comment.

BuddyDev.com launched a new BuddyPress theme entitled CosmicBuddy. It’s still in beta, but is safe to use. The theme is inspired by Orkut and looks amazing. I’m in no way happy about this, because now I’m struggling with my earlier decision to go with Elgg instead of BuddyPress on my new project.

A while ago I started testing social networking scripts, but mostly got stuck on Elgg. I even setup a test site where I displayed different Elgg themes and plugins.
I recently decided to clean out the old files and database and replace it with a new fresh theme and settings. In the process a new Blogging Social Network developed, aptly named, SonOfaBlog (SOB), running on Elgg and a free theme from Webgalli.
If you would like to join a community, which I believe can contribute to the success of your blog and other’s , please visit www.sonofablog.info .
Social Network Includes blogging, networking, communities, collecting of news using feeds aggregation, social bookmarking and media sharing.

More and more people want to use WordPress as a complete CMS, but because of certain limitations and the lack of a “Complete CMS Wp Plugin”, many tend to shy away from the headache their efforts will lead to.
Fortunately WordPress and the WordPress community is always busy making new things to fix YOUR problems, with the click of a button. Most of them even do it for free. If you do some searching on the net you’ll come across thousands of WordPress plugins who fulfil certain requirements.
If you spend even more time you’ll be able to find everything you need for a complete CMS. Most of us don’t like searching for hours on end and prefer if someone just gave us all the links right now. Well, that’s what I’m going to attempt. Over the next few weeks I’ll add posts explaining the greatest and most sometimes most under appreciated plugins the Wp community has to offer.
So stick around.
Useful Plugins :

I’ve worked with the P2 theme before and thought it would be a great setup for my new community driven Rugby Blog. Basically the blog is a place for rugga lovers to share their opinions on rugby games and players etc. They will also be able to post Youtube vids and hopefully pictures.
My favorite find up and to know is the MiniMeta plugin which allows me to completely control the Wp-meta widget. Everything seems to be working together rather nicely.
I would love to hear your opinions so far. If you use or plan on using P2, drop a comment. I would love to check it out.

Welcome back and thank you! It’s been a rather long time since the blog went down, but fortunately we’re back and hopefully better than ever. We upgraded our hosting plan and won’t be going down for a very long time.
PurpleHazard will undergo a few changes in the next couple of weeks. The theme is still our favorite , but there is some performance issues we would like to attend to.
Our mission for 2010 is to build a community of bloggers around PurpleHazard or a BuddyPress/Elgg sister site. You’ll find out more if you stay tuned. In the meantine we would like to ask any and all bloggers to register for an account, chat on the forum and submit any blog posts or promotional material you think we might agree to post.
Our aim is to create a fun and informative blogging portal for the WordPress enthusiast.
Leave a comment and welcome us back!!

It seems a strange thing the blogging sphere, always growing but always declining. A bit contradictory you think? Not so. A world of possibilities opened with the introduction and expansion of blogging platforms such as Wordpress. Yes, more and more people open blogs to share their knowledge, but for every knowledge giver there’s a few hundred profit seekers.
Open up a free blog with generic content, use free services to drive traffic and voila, you can have yourself a money making, knowledge killing machine in a few days. It’s all over the web. “How to make money blogging, but do nothing.”
It’s as if knowledge or useful information is being deluded one cent at a time. It’s not that I’m complaining, I’m sure I’ve contributed my own bit to deluding useful information in my futile attempts to generate some profit, but fortunately, I’ve learned.
My blog went offline for about a week. When I got it up again, my hits, naturally, dropped to about zero. But in a few days the hits increased to a natural number. This natural number was due to people I know and converse with on the internet. My pagerank climbed up one spot and I was happier than ever.
All I could wish for is some kind of way to verify a real blog, some service that can provide you with a big old yellow ribbon stamp saying : “This is a real blog, managed by a real person, providing real interesting and useful information.”
Now wouldn’t that be nice?
