I’ve noticed more and more visitors come here looking for Social Networking content, themes, plugins and directories.

To help you out I’ve opened three new sections in my free link directory, Ning, Elgg and BuddyPress. So if you have a site powered by any of those platforms, feel free to add it to my directory.

A while ago I started testing social networking scripts, but mostly got stuck on Elgg. I even setup a test site where I displayed different Elgg themes and plugins.

I recently decided to clean out the old files and database and replace it with a new fresh theme and settings. In the process a new Blogging Social Network developed, aptly named, SonOfaBlog (SOB),  running on Elgg and a free theme  from Webgalli.

If you would like to join a community, which I believe can contribute to the success of your blog and other’s , please visit www.sonofablog.info .

Social Network Includes blogging, networking, communities, collecting of news using feeds aggregation, social bookmarking and media sharing.

I say  “New” Adsense Alternatives because these are money-generating opportunities that are new to me, but whom I’ve heard great things about. I recently signed up and will be giving them a test drive over the next couple of weeks. You can try them out yourself or come back in a short while to see how I’m doing.

1. Etology

etology

Etology is still one of the newer players on the publishers market. They give you, the publisher the opportunity of setting a price for ads to  display on your site. As an alternative to Adsense this gives you more cotrol over your ads and earnings. They serve text and banner ads in different sizes and formats.

2. Stay tuned for more.

Most people start a new blog with the thought of either making money or making someone happy. Sometimes it’s both. Here I will focus on my three favorite spots to sell your 125X125 ad spots. You might even get some extra traffic in the process.

1. BuySellAds

buysellads

If you’re able to get in this is a very nice place to sell your ad spots. If you have a high amount of traffic and a good rating, you should be able to get approval after finishing the many steps.

I’ll give them a 3/5

2. Project Wonderful

project-wonderfulI did write a post about them a while ago, but my opinion did change a bit. They’re very strict on ad performance and will shut you down very quickly. It takes a while to build up nice stats on the system and the payout rates are okay. If you have a small blog you might make a few cents.

I’ll rate them 3/5

3. Technorati Engage

technorati-engage1First time you’ve heard of them? Don’t feel bad, they’re still in beta version. You will however be able to register for an account and getting in is rather easy. Like the other two you won’t get paid much, but as your blog grows, so will your income. I would recommend them to small and established blogs.

I’ll rate them a 4/5.

If you know of any other sites who will happily sell your ad spots let me know. I’ll put it up.

Website Grader is a very useful SEO tool.

Website Grader is a free seo tool that measures the marketing effectiveness of a website. It provides a score that incorporates things like website traffic, SEO, social popularity and other technical factors. It also provides some basic advice on how the website can be improved from a marketing perspective.

You can also check your SEO effectiveness against competing websites. This tool will give a grading out of 100. If you get anything above 70%, you’re on the right track.

Recently the guys over at Blogengage opened up a blog comment exchange section in their forum. So far it looks like a winner. I thought it would be nice to give the same opportunity to Forum owners.

To take part in our FORUM POST EXCHANGE you will have to register and start posting. When you register I will register on your forum and post as much as possible. Within the forum you can also request an exchange from other members.

Most of us will have new and small forums, so don’t run away when you see a small amount of members. This is a long term thing. We’re building relationships.
