I recently noticed a lot of South African bloggers mentioning a Ning powered Blogging Social Network, located at http://sabloggers.ning.com . It seems, however, that the site was closed down. I decided to setup a new Ning powered community at the same adress.

A while ago I started testing social networking scripts, but mostly got stuck on Elgg. I even setup a test site where I displayed different Elgg themes and plugins.
I recently decided to clean out the old files and database and replace it with a new fresh theme and settings. In the process a new Blogging Social Network developed, aptly named, SonOfaBlog (SOB), running on Elgg and a free theme from Webgalli.

Join the forum discussion on this post - (1) Posts Recently I’ve been very busy focusing on other business projects and consequently miss out on writing more for this blog. It’s a shame because the blog receives a constant stream of traffic. This is where you come in.
I will be adding two 125X125 ad buttons above the Twitter and Rss feed buttons in the sidebar. Every week you submit a post to Purple Hazard your ad will be displayed in either one or both of those spots. You will also be allowed to link back to your blog from the posts you submit.

No matter which ad system you are currently using, this little Ad “Heat Map” from the guys over at Google should give you a good starting point for ad placements.
I would recommend only using the Heat Map as a starting point, but as they mention on the Google Page, try to understand your readers. Don’t bombard them with irrelevant hawker ads. Always think about your readers first.

We are in the process of launching a new BuddyPress community specifically for African bloggers, named Zumame. We will cover all the costs associated with hosting and setup, but we’re still looking for two possible admin members.
You do not have to be an African citizen to become part of this project. We require a coder, designer and/or administrator with BuddyPress and WordPress experience.

I’ve experimented with many different blog designs, themes, plugins and all the fascinating aspects of blogging, specifically WordPress. The thing that I only started realizing the last couple of months is simplicity works.
People surf the net looking for information, deals, gadgets, breaking news and much much more. The net is a vast expanse of thinkers, writers and entertainers just like you and me. The thing that sets sites apart is the way people view it.
Yes, the information within the blog is very important, however, not so important if people can’t find, understand or view it correctly.
I’ll take this blog for example – WineMeUp. This is a simple little blog I setup for a friend’s new student business venture. I setup four pretty intense looking blogs. He told me no, but immediately settled for the one mentioned above.
This brings me to my point. My friend is not a blogger. He is the person who is looking for the information.The people, we as bloggers, should focus on.
So, blogging lesson number one : If possible, focus on simplicity.

One of the great ways of increasing you blog traffic and ranking is with quality comments, either on your blog or from you on another persons blog. Wouldn’t it be even better if you’re assured of a comment on your blog when you comment on someone else’s blog?
