It takes a good while to learn effective SEO. I’ve decided to start a new series dedicated to specifically WordPress SEO.

The first edition looks at Google Webmaster tools and the best WP plugin for integrating it with your blog. I had trouble with Adsense not targeting the correct content, so I did a few searches. What I found is the perfect plugin for GWT.

About the plugin:

Name : Google Integration Toolkit

Functions : With regards to Google Webmaster Tools -

1. Page Verification

2. Google Analytics ( Including Adsense Integration)

3. RSS Atom Feed Tagging (Track Feed Visitors)

4. Adsense Section Targeting (Works perfectly)

I would recommend installing this plugin if you use any of Google’s free services. It’s a must if you use Adsense.

To setup the plugin visit Plugins->Add New->Google Integration Toolkit (Install and Activate)

seo-checkOne of the most important aspects of running a successful blog or any website for that matter, is keeping up to date with your SEO performance.

There are a few aspects to keep in mind. I usually look at backlinks, performing tags, directory listings, domain age, indexed pages and many more.

If Google Analytics is already tracking your visitor statistics, that’s a great place to start. You can also setup a SiteMap, which I think is very important for optimal post listings, and use Google Webmaster Tools to analyze your data.

My favorite is SmartPageRank.com . – They give you a good overall analysis of your search engine performance.

You can even use http://cubestat.com to get a blog worth estimate.

Note:  If you’re a Wordpress user, search for the latest WP sitemap plugin. This will save you a lot of time and effort.
