WordPress 3.0 Beta 1 is Out

Posted in Announcements, Blogging, News, The Web, WPmu, WordPress 3 on April 5th, 2010 by Icd – 2 Comments

Great news for all you peeps waiting for the first beta release of WordPress MultiSite/Multi Site/3.0. Your wait is over, the beta is out.

Jane Wells made a post over at WordPress.org explaining the release of the “early beta” , which you can now download, also at that post, and give a nice test run.

Things to test, as mentioned in that post:

* Play with the new default theme, Twenty Ten, including the custom background and header options.
* Custom Post Type functionality has been beefed up. It’s really easy to add new types, so do that and see how it looks!
* WordPress MU users should test the multiple sites functionality to make sure nothing broke during the merge.

If you do give the new beta version a test, please let us know, here at PH, what your thoughts are so far.

Installing BuddyPress and WP MU

Posted in Blogging on May 24th, 2009 by Icd – 4 Comments

I’m not completely sure why I’m already posting this,  but I decided to try out a copy of BuddyPress. If it works out I might just give everyone a chance to host a blog here for free which includes BuddyPress on top of that.

I’m in the process of testing all of this out on a new host and will try to have a complete tutorial finished within the week.

I’m actually ranking far to high in Google, specifically for BuddyPress related posts. I would like to give the visitors something that can help them. So, if you have any tutorials you would like me to list feel free to do so.

Here’s a few tutorials I would recommend:

Installing WordPress MU:

1. http://maketecheasier.com/install-wordpress-mu-in-windows-localhost-with-xampp/2009/05/02 - A complete in depth tutorial on how to install and test WP MU on your local server.

2. http://www.blogopreneur.com/2006/11/06/installing-wordpress-mu-on-a-cpanelwhm-server/ - Installing WordPress MU on a Cpanel server.

3. http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WPMU - The WordPress MU installation Codex.

As soon as you’ve thorougly tested and completed a few WP MU installations, you’re ready to start setting up the big mama , BuddyPress.

Installing BuddyPress
